EDM otherwise known as Electronic Dance Music has its roots in well known artists such as Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze and Vengelis. In the early days Electronic Dance Music was very experimental and was more akin to a scientist in a laboratory.
Here is a good example of Klaus Schulze at work.
Kraftwerk further helped shape genre's to come.
Towards the end of the 80's some noteable groups that helped to define EDM genre's are Bomb The Bass and 808 State which gained traction and begun experimenting with their own unique sound.
As the 1990's drew in Techno and Eurodance started to blow up with big hits from groups like The Age of Love and La Bouche.
Throughout the 90's there was too many big hits across all EDM genre's to list but a few noteables are from groups such as Sash and The Chemical Brothers
Today EDM has divulged into many forms, from Acid Techno to Trance to House with new genre's emerging there's always something new to find.
