EDM

Tue, 31 Mar 2026 21:44:34 -0700

EDM otherwise known as Electronic Dance Music has its roots in well known artists such as Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze and Vengelis. In the early days Electronic Dance Music was very experimental and was more akin to a scientist in a laboratory.

Here is a good example of Klaus Schulze at work.

Kraftwerk further helped shape genre's to come.

Towards the end of the 80's some noteable groups that helped to define EDM genre's are Bomb The Bass and 808 State which gained traction and begun experimenting with their own unique sound.

As the 1990's drew in Techno and Eurodance started to blow up with big hits from groups like The Age of Love and La Bouche.

Throughout the 90's there was too many big hits across all EDM genre's to list but a few noteables are from groups such as Sash and The Chemical Brothers

Today EDM has divulged into many forms, from Acid Techno to Trance to House with new genre's emerging there's always something new to find. I hope this helps you start your EDM journey or perhaps adds to it. I'll finish this article with a personal favorite that's still amazing today as it when released. Enjoy!

Electro

Sat, 21 Mar 2026 05:15:10 -0700

Develing into other forms of music one can come across a subgenre known as Electro. It could be said Electro is a combination of Hiphop and Funk, as its known with its other name Electrofunk. Often themes about Robots, Industrial settings, Computers and many more are featured throughout the music composition and sometimes music videos. Below are some of my favorite examples of Electro, i hope you enjoy.

Shoegaze

Sun, 15 Mar 2026 05:46:03 -0700

Shoegaze is a subgenre of Alternative and Indie Rock. Its far from a new genre having its roots in the 80's gaining traction in the 90's. The genre could be described as a wall of sound which is immersive as it can be distorting. A few bands of note, Slowdive Drop Nineteens Lush and Ride. Below are some good examples of classic Shoegaze music videos. Enjoy!

Records VS CD's

Tue, 22 Jul 2025 04:11:47 -0700

They're are many differing opinions about whether records sound better than CD's. In my view records will always sound better than CD's. It's the warmth of the record and often the production is better. To give an example here are some of the records that i personally like that ive heard on CD and on record.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Curved Air - Second Album
Super Tramp - Breakfast in America

These are my personal best records that i play and i experimented listening to them on the same stereo with the same levels of treble and bass. These records are really well produced and will sound good on CD or record but in my opinion the records beat the CD's. These records have incredible stereo effects and really shine when you listen to them on a stereo. If you'd like to comment what are your top four favorite records that sound really good.
